Party Planning Questions

Discos are for all ages, recommended from 5 years up. We can cater for low key party to a high energy disco. Its not just the kids either, we can accomodate parties for any age group.

Discos can be scaled to suit any number of people. One great advantage is you are not paying on a per person rate unlike lots of other activity based parties. 12 is a good starting number to create a party atmosphere although we have hosted great parties with fewer people.

We can adapt to your  location so it's completely up to you, be it at home, or in a venue of your choice. Indoors is best as the lighting and sound levels are easier to control. Outdoor parties are affected by wind, rain. Some venues do not allow smoke machines and have limits on the noise level which we can assist with. Best to check in advance with your venue. Also we recommend letting your neighbours know you are having a party and what date and time it will be on. Generally our parties do not get that loud, however we find this courtesy helps to ensure good relations.

We suggest that a location is darkened to help create that disco atmosphere (particularly if you choose a day time party). Indoor spaces are easier to control lighting. Complete/controlled darkness does increase the impact of the lighting effects.

Two parents is fine for a smaller party. more than 12-16 kids and then an extra friend or two to help is even better. Allocate whoever is the more tech savvy person to keep an eye on the music, and one outgoing person that knows some of the kids to help with games - remind everyone to take lots of photos. As a parent it is best if you are free to organise the food and cake and to ensure that the birthday child is being given all the attention they require on their special day.

We have plenty of playlists that we can share through spotify. There are lots of playlists on spotify but we have found that even though they say child friendly there are instances of adult themes and language present which you may not approve of.

If you would like to use our playlists, register with spotify premium. They provide a free trials so you have time to get familiar with the platform and the playlists before the party.

Tech Questions

D.I.Y disco kits are the core package, a set of disco lights with easy-up stand and the sound system. We will provide a link to a video demonstration of the set up and a checklist in advance and go through any questions you have on the day of pick-up. Because these are professional systems there is some set up involved but we have simplified it and give clear instructions and support.

 

Once the system is set-up just plug or bluetooth your mobile or laptop, power on the system and play music. Control of volume levels is as simple as changing the volume on your device.

Our 3.5mm aux cable fits all standard headphone sockets for phone/laptop/tablet . Note that newer iPhones need an adaptor. Bluetooth is not currently supported

General Questions

To keep things simple, we will email an invoice to you. Payment is best through online bank transfer, this should  be made at the time of booking to secure the equipment for your event.

We are based on Auckland's North Shore, we can deliver to metro areas depending on availability - delivery charges do apply. Rural and remote areas are possible by arrangement.

Keep it simple. The most successful parties avoid too many additional distractions

We anticipate that most kids’ parties will be 2-2.5 hours long. If we are setting it up for you, we would aim to have it all in place, allowing time for a demonstration/handover, at least 15 mins before guests arrive, we will come to pack out shortly after the end of your party. 

If you are doing the DIY option, then we schedule collection on the morning of the event after 11am with return the following morning by 10am. We understand how busy life can be and we are open to facilitating alternate arrangements at our discretion
